In the outdoor installation Nucleus Nubus, the boundaries between the Earth’s vast geological timescales and the ephemeral dynamics of the atmosphere blur. Crafted from stainless steel and glass, the work takes the form of a core drill. By reversing its traditional role, the sculpture does not extract the frozen past, but instead captures the immediacy of the present.
Through perforations in the metal base, ground moisture ascends as vapor, mirroring the ancient relationship between earth and sky. Within the glass chamber, this moisture is trapped in a microclimate, manifesting as a shifting veil of mist and droplets. This quiet spectacle, dictated by the slightest fluctuations in temperature and humidity, transforms the sculpture into a living core of a cloud.
