Vitrum Nubibus III

Installation

Glass, steel, galvanised pipes and cooling system

135 x 205 x 165 cm (w x d x h)

Vitrum Nubibus III is a conceptual glass installation, embodying a poetic translation of a cloud. When air is fully saturated and cools slightly further, water vapor condenses into droplets. In our atmosphere, clouds appear before the air reaches full saturation because even the cleanest air contains tiny particles of dust or salt, called cloud condensation nuclei. These particles provide surfaces for water to condense more easily. This physical process is mirrored in the installation. The organic glass cloud serves as a medium for atmospheric water, acting as a cloud nucleus, allowing it to condense on the glass's outer surface. The installation is static yet ephemeral and fluctuating, responding to the atmosferic environment around it. As a viewer, you witness the formation, interaction, merging, and descent of droplets towards the earth. A phenomenon typically beyond our grasp is brought into clear view, unfolding right before our eyes.
